[NVM]
Italy has founders building for global markets, often in fields that take real work to understand. Too many still face slow decisions and an investment process they can barely see into. We think they should be able to expect the pace and clarity of the best funds abroad from investors who understand what’s being built here. We built nvm to make that normal.
NVM is a venture fund based in Italy. We invest early, with the expectation that the companies we back will find customers well beyond their home market.
[Why Us]
The team comes to investing from different sides of a company. Andrea Bonabello has built, financed and sold businesses, while Niccolò Bienati brings years of investment and transaction work at UCP. Alessandro Casiraghi invested in France at OneRagtime and Blast before returning to Italy. Giorgio Gulienetti spent more than 30 years in defence and aerospace, including at Leonardo.
That mix changes how we work. The people who meet founders also drive the investment case, so they can get into the difficult questions early and make a call. Sometimes that means judging how a founder builds with very little. In a market like defence, it means understanding what a customer would need before they could use the technology. We tell founders what we’re trying to learn and where we stand. When we invest, we can help them reach people outside their immediate network, including customers and investors abroad.
[Dual-use technology]
We back founders developing technologies for defence, security and resilience, including those with civilian applications. We focus on pre-seed and seed companies, with initial investments of €500k to €1.5m.
Our industry experience helps founders work through what it takes to turn a working product into something a customer can buy and deploy. We help them reach potential customers and industrial partners through our relationships across industry and institutions, and through Outpost Rome. Much of that work is taking shape in Lazio, where Italy’s defence, aerospace and research capacity is concentrated. If you’re building in these areas, we’d like to hear from you.
